Whale Submersible Pump
I am using the whale submersible GP1652 water pump for an irrigation project in my garden. This pump works from a 12volt DC supply. A car battery in my case which is in turn charged from a car battery charger set to trickle charge between 2 and 4 am. The pump sits at the bottom of a 4" dia length of drainpipe which is sunk into my garden to a depth of 6 metres. My water table is approx 4 metres. This pump is electronically switched on for 2 minutes every hour and it pumps water up a hose to top off a water butt. The whole set up is next to the vegetable garden and is great for watering the crops during any dry periods. The battery, charger and control is sited in my garden shed. This pump is primarily designed for boating and caravan applications. It is designed to sit in the bottom of the water tank and pumps on demand from either micro switches on the taps or a pressure switch set up. Whale water systems make loads of pumps but I thought I would like to highlight this one. N.B. the 4" drainpipe was sunk into the garden using a huge digger to make a hole while he was also digging out our swimming pool. Hey, the next intel will be on my swimming pool!
